Hey guys! Love the site! I'm a sem-retired dirt tracker (driving a midget for a new car owner-much cheaper than out of your own pocket!) and just picked up a 64 chevelle rolling chassis. It's a mess to say the least, trunk & floor pan are ruined due to a previous roll cage, interior is basically gutted other than the dash, hood & trunk lid both have to go cus' they were pinned and other misc things you typically find BUT after putting on the rose colored glasses I luv her'!
Were going after the pro-touring look although it's gonna be tubbed with larger meat in the back than what you typically see. Art Morrison rear clip 4 link, tubular front, custom interior, 500hp sb & a th400. The one advatage I have I gues is my best friend restores & customizes Vette's & this Chevelle is gonna be our little side project!
A few probably stupid questions, where can I find a steel trunk lid? Also, where is the best place to order 64' parts? You see alot of 66-72 but the 64 & 65 catalogs are pretty small.
thanks guys!

Hey, that was my first hotrod! I threw out at least two whole 64's back in 91. Nowadays, you can try Ausley's, the Paddock, opg, Azchevys (a junkyard in Arizona) Maybe someone else in here will have another suggestion. That's all I can think of. You in New york? If you were closer, I'd just fix your stuff. (I make my own panels from the old ones I use as a template.) Lots of luck. I loved my 64, If you even like it a little bit now, I know you two will be inseperable soon enough.

Well I got lucky today, as it turns out I have a Chevelle boneyard right in my own backyard (less than 60 miles away)! I found a trunk lid, back window, headlight & tail light assemblies, a new grill & as it turns out he carries alot of aftermarket parts so I'm picking up the new 2 pc floor pan & trunk pan.
Has anyone worked with the Art Morrison rear clips? They look like a failry straight up application. Are there others on the market comparable? Now I'm kinda thinking of going with the front clip as well. I haven't quite figured out what you call this style yet because were going after the pro touring suspension & interior but I still want that pro street look with the tubs, wide rears, narrow fronts, fuel cell etc...hopefully I'm not ruining any future value.
Is there a place where I can check my ID tag to make sure it is or isn't an SS?
You guys rock! Thanks!
Mark

Rock on with your bad self! I wish I lived closer to you so I could exploit that boneyard! Don't worry about value, You'll never get out close to what you have in it. Build what you want and don't look back. A-body suspensions are pretty good out of the box, All I'd do is upgrade what you have. Hotchkis has been making A-body stuff for years with good results. But that's just me talking.
