Posting this for a friend, your input is appreciated. Dont know if a 10 or 12 bolt will work. Thaks a mil :beers:

I have a friend with a 1978 El Camino. He has been bracket racing it and is thinking of stepping up the power. He needs to swap out his 7 1/2" rear end for several reasons. Do you know what stronger (8 1/2" 10 bolt, or better) rear end, from what vehicles will bolt in? In case you don't, can you direct me where to find the info

An 8.5 out of a GN or Olds 442 would be the best bet. It won't be cheap though. Get the driveshaft too.

The GN or T Type Buick rear end is a good choice, but rare. I have been trying to find the time to build some of these 8.5 rear ends for the G body cars, but haven't been able to yet. The other choice would be a bolt in Moser 12 bolt.
