Actually, you can get one for about 165, some states have changed their respective motor vehicle laws disallowing this loophole for lost titles. many states didn't require titles for motor vehicles this age, and if said vehicle was not registered for many years ownership would go by the wayside. There are title companies which can provide you with the necessary documentation to obtain a title for one which previously never was or ones which are lost and unobtainable from the state. Certainly these companies cannot issue pink slips to stolen vehicles, as they would be criminal themselves. Certainly always smart to do your homework before handing over any money as aforementioned.

To anyone considering this project car - NJ does have issue titles for old cars. I recommend you ask this seller for the full VIN and you can likely call NJ DMV to find out if it's stolen.
