Its 19 degrees here in Virginia right now, and I'm only have way done with my floor pan replacement. Without a garage, how am I supposed to finish it? The passanger side went in great but now I have to sit around until it gets warm enough to work outside. I cant stand it. Sorry, just venting.

I got ambitious and was going to do some cleaning in the detached garage last night. By the time I walked from the house to the garage door, I was froze. Between the sheer cold and blowing wind, any ambition I had was gone. This morning it was a brisk -13F.

I know what you mean. I have a different problem. I had to turn the heat down in my garage last night because I started sweating. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif Bill

I was born in S.Calif and really need to smack my parents for ever moving to a cold inhospitable place such as Central Illinois. Then in the summer on a nice cruisin day away from the city all you see and get is

69ssragtop,

Arnt the central Illinois winters just great...NOT! I live about 70 miles from you. I cant believe how cold it was earlier this week. Hard to get motivated to go to the garage to do much.

Ya know, 130 bucks will get you 30,000 btu's whenever ya want it? Then we could all be as fortunate as Bill, year-round!

Hey Chevy,
Is there anyway to run an extension cord with an electric heater out to your car?
My wife had an 83 F**d EXP that I changed the head on outside in 8 degree's minus windchill. You'd be suprised what a heater, ductape, and a tarp can accomplish.

I went out to my ATTACHed garage two nights ago to find my degreaser frozen over.

Solution: break through ice and keep going! Fingers got a bit numb but the parts didn't seem to mind...

Hey Lou,
This would be a CHEVY CHEVELLE venture here.I dont have a clue as to how long ago it was that I saw a F*#D exp that run under its own power. 15-18 years? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

This post reminds me of the dedication that all our fellow hobbiests' have. As a Shop owner, my greatest problem is finding the TIME to work (play) on my Elky. It sits in a WARM, well lit location in middle of body shop. It is there every day, constantly calling me, to administer to it's needs. As I have stated in previous posts, this site has helped me to focus more on the Elky since I joined, than I did in the previous seven years. Thanks to all, who come here to share and learn.

I bought a 110,000. btu heater from home depot. It's one of those jet types, that blows the heated air out.I think it cost about 269,and goes thru 5 gallons of kerosene in about 16-20 hours.I have a two car garage and it heats it up to about 70,that's with the door half open to get some ventilation in there.Great investment.

Some of those sissy boys never enjoy replacing a starter in -25 degree weather. Along with the frostbite and tools lost in the snow youll never enjoy. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

And you NEVER get that starter pos cable tight enough on the starter to get it started.Scoopin the snow out away from in back of the tire to slide under the car.

O how I DONT miss those days of being flat ass broke w/3 kids and no geeeeeeeerage, with that fine quality set of buffalo sockets and wrenchs-made in tiawan that dont fit.

Seriously!!!! I didn't mean to sound like an a-hole in my other post. You guys are truely dedicated hobbyists and professionals. If I had the dedication, ambition, and self motivation you guys have my chevelle would be ALOT further along. Thanks for keeping my spirits up when I need it, I truly respect your enthusiasm in this hobby. 1970Chevy, don't frett man, it will come together in time, I too am often guilty of getting down due to how long things can take. Baby steps, and optimism.
Hanging in there,
Brandon

I have a 30,000 btu natural gas blue flame and it make me sweat in that lil' old 24x26x12 insulated (very important) garage. The thermostats stuck on high. But the 'velle is nice and cozy. Oh, by the way, my wife had the fd exp when we first got married. Now, she's (I've) got a 2001 Oldsmoboogie Intrigue GLS. IT EATS RICE. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

Years ago I was converting my PU to 4wd over the winter. It had been getting pretty cold but I bundled up and kept moving in the unheated wood garage. One night I was working real late using a drill motor and wire brush to get the crud off of the bottom of the cab. I noticed that my breath was freezing to the metal above my head and decided to call it a night. When I went in it was 14 below. I took a few nights off until it warmed up to 10 or so.

My family and I were down in Port Charolotte for Christmas shut-down. I really enjoyed the 75 degree days. The only thing missing was my car which was 1300 miles away freezing in 20 degree weather. Needless to say, it was a long ride home.
So, what have you heard about the Indians. Are they staying in Winter Haven or not?
