Hi: I want to have a professional artist letter my 66 Chevelle 396 Convertible like we did back in the 60's on Long Island. Nothing seems to rhyme with 66. Does anyone have any slogans or neat words to use on the front lower fenders? Should I nix the whole idea and go with Pin Stripes instead?

That must have been really cool !!! I remember going to freeport as a little kid and to national speedway and westhampton, they are all gone and I hear riverhead is closing. Heck grand national stock cars ran at islip in the early 60's. Do you still live on the Island?, I moved out 15 yrs ago.

Man-You guys are working overtime--THANKS. My 66 SS Ragtop is Regal Red, Red interior with a white top. I think some of you switched from Yoo Hoo to Gatorade with your lettering ideas. Anymore suggestions from the Chevelle World? Would any one out there prefer pinstriping instead of my lettering idea? How bout a few cob webs around the door handles? Just a thought.

HyJinx aside, I prefer to do without the clutter. Why distract from the body lines.

The 3rd resurrection of my '66, started with a chrome yellow body, which in itself is a hard pill to swallow, but it was done well, looked good, got compliments and did in fact grow on me (weird to look over a bright yellow hood after 12 years of black preceeded by 12 years of red). However, thats where the previous owners taste and mine seriously seperated ways. It had two contrasting colored, 1" stripes running horizontal between the wheelwells, right below the lower body line and then the deal breaker. The trailing edge of each front wheel well had an epileptic whisp of free hand flames pin striped between the base and clear. The first night back in Vegas, I sat out in my cul-de-sac until the sun was way up carefully rubbin' those faggy flames off, before any of my neighbors could seem them. This knowing, I had months of mechanical work (big block swap, int, etc..) before it would actually hit the street.

BUT, I do have something special for anything red with a white "pop-d-top".
AND I QUOTE John Belushi,
