I am working on a Nova project and would like to know if any of you body guys have had much experience with swapping doors on 68-72 X-body's. I noticed that the door hinges are factory welded on both sides. When you swap doors off of another car do they just line up or is there a way to adjust them if they don't? Seems a little strange to me. I don't see any way to adjust them.

Thanks
Dan

You have to bend the door for adjustment, either by prying up or pulling down to get it where you want it.

When you say bend do you mean by pushing down on the door or pulling up. Or do you mean bend by beating on the hinges with a BFH?? Sounds pretty violent

What year is your car? the 68 and some of the 69's had bolt on hinges. The weld on hinges are usually really close from car to car. I think what the previous post ment by bending the door was a for height adjustment in the rear. A tool is available for this that attaches to the latch and striker and acts like a lever for bending the rear of the door up or down. If adjustments in or out or the height of the front of the door needs to be changed you'll need to move the hinges. Bob

The hinges shouldnt have to be moved front to rear or up and down unless the car has been hit pretty hard. What exactly do you need the door to do?
And yes, you pry the rear of the door either up or down to get the fit you want in the rear.

Ron Not sure yet I just got it back from media blasting and it's all dis-assembled and primed. Now I want to start fitting it up and I was just wondering what the procedure was before I start.
