BEWARE. I know its partly my fault but i was selling a part on this site and a guy said he wanted to buy it. He sent me a check for the part and for the delivery fee (which i stated would be paid by buyer) but he had set up the delivery company. I deposited the money in my account waited for the check to clear and the western union'd the money to the shipper. It was picked up that day. The next day the guy called me said the delivery guy did not get the money. i emailed him copies of the reciept showing it had been picked up.that was 2 days ago and im still waiting for a responce.

His screen name was something like willy billy and email "willy billy" <w_i_l_l_y_01@yahoo.com>. If anyone has info on this guy or the administrators of this site have anything from when he created an account please let me know.

So let me get this straight. You sold an item to this "buyer" but he offered to give you more than it's worth as long as you send him the rest of the money via western union?

krisk

yes, it is a good lesson when you deposit the check in your bank account and it takes a few days to "clear" before it shows up in your account means nothing. This just happened today so my bank cant tell me why they are just saying the money is getting pulled back from the other financial institute.

Al and Dot own the site.
Sounds like it was a scam from the get go when ever anyone deals with western union. and send money back should have raised a big red flag with that one.

Hi. We have been running warnings about this guy.

http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/scamalert.html

Sorry to hear about this, I don't know how else we can communicate about these guys. They are all over the place.

Beware!
From Glen:
I have received a email that this person is interested in this item. his email address is w_i_l_l_y_01@yahoo.com. his name is Billy. iam selling my item for 100.00 plus shipping. he sent me a check for 3000.00. that is way more then the selling price. I received his check by ups with a po box address. he had called my house a few hours after delivery inquiring about the check and what to do with it. I was not home when he called. I have a feeling that this guy is trying to steel peoples identity. if you could pass this on to you members that would be greatHe was banned the same day that he showed up. username: w_i_l_l_y

Lessons to be learned:

1-Don't accept more payment than required
2-Don't use Western Union
3-Don't use their delivery company

Sorry to hear you lost your money. You now know.

I just went through all this a few times with racing junk. Like Bry said, Never use western union. The last guy to try to burn me said he was from out of the U.S. but found out he was a group of college kids in, I think it was Missouri. (I was In the Army and used some favors from C.I.D.) If anyone does this again, don't open the UPS envelope they send you, or at least limit who touches it and take it right to the police so they can isolate finger prints. The college guys got a little freaked out when I said what they were doing and where they lived. Satllites (sp?) are a wonderful thing.

Maybe you could get some revenge on him by using tactics like http://www.thescambaiter.com/ does.Send him another "part" that he has to pay shipping on,like a bad washing machine or something.

1badss396
Nov 9th, 06, 9:02 PM
Tell him you feel sorry for him and to make things better between the 2 of you as friends, your going to send him a bunch of good parts Take photos of good parts, then tell him he has to pay for the shipping and send him a washing machine filled with concrete, so what happens now is he will think he is getting all the parts and when he pays for the shipping cost around $3000 to ship it to UK and pays for it and gets a nice concrete filled washing machine.

He'll still just pay it with bad cashiers check! Thats what someone did when they hit my "Buy it now" on my '57 chevy 2yrs ago. Only I didn't go for it, and I turned it in. You can say what you want about the CIA, SS, etc... They aren't going to do anything about it! It is happening all over and they can't keep up with it, your on your own.

You can always tell a scamer, they word the responce a certain way, you ever notice that? They ask you questions that are already answered in your ad, and want to give you all kinds of extra money for "shipping" It doesn't take $2000 to ship a wiper motor overseas. (you get the idea) When people try to scam you as much as they tried me, it'll get very clear who's trying to pull a fast one. Almost lost a $13,000 dragster chassis like that. Fortunately, my bank was the one who caught that one. They take 10 days to clear large checks. Thank god or I'd be @$$ out right now. Another thing, ever notice they'll ask if you want a money order or whatever, and no matter what you say, they'll send a check. I'll contact them when I get one and tell them "I shredded the check. I asked for a money order. If you can get to a computer, you can get to a post office!" I'll get off my soap box now, just some things I had to deal with, maybe it'll help someone else when it happens to them.

I believe this sort of thing is the beginning of the end for online selling, and associated sites like Ebay. If there is a solution out there, we need our best and brightest working to find it, otherwise, e commerce will be nothing but a footnote in the future. The problem is you cant control who is on the other end responding to an online ad. It seems like as soon as they "solve" one scam or as people become widely aware of it, another two crop up to take its place. Its really kind of depressing, because the 95% of us who are honest folks are the ones who will suffer the most. The computer and the internet are great tools with great potential for both lawful and unlawful activity. The problem is that when peoples perceptions of anything change for the worse, then it is like unscrambling an egg to change that perception back again.
