I have a 69 SS Chevelle. I need to replace the chrome trim that goes on the rear windows.

How do you take the chrome off without breaking
the windows?

My windows are still in the car. Would it easier
to remove the windows from the car? How do I take the windows out?

Thanks for the help.

I am off to do some more sanding.

I'm assuming you're talking about the rear quarter vertical pieces. Unscrew the door jamb "U" rubbers, then just pull them off. It's a press fit with a rubber piece inside the vertical chrome piece. Don't take the windows out if you can avoid it. They're a pain to line up again.

It is a lot easier to take out the windows, you can try with them in and take a small block of wood and place on edge of chrome strip and pound them off, start at the bottom. I do not recomend the repop chrome pieces as I COULD NOT get them on because they did not have the proper bend.Go with some nice used ones if possible. My .02 Mike
