Hey guys I m trying to get my big block done in my 56 bel air and things just keep going wrong. I hooked up my battery tonight to make sure my gas gauge was working (had to repair sending unit). I was under the car zip tying some wires out of the way for the fuel pump when I hear a loud pop. I get out from under the car and see a bunch of smoke. The brand new MSD blaster 2 coil exploded. When i say exploded I mean it. There is nothing left in the case, everything blew out of it. There was oil and parts everywhere. I have no idea why this happened.

I have an MSD 6A that was in the car for the last two years. The only thing that I changed was going from a accel dist and coil to and MSD dist and coil. I diconnected the white wire and taped the end up very well (had a dual pints before). I have the orange wire hooked to the positive and the black to the negative of the coil. The ignition was not on. The battery cables are in good shape and nothing was touching each other that shouldn't. I checked the coil wires and all other wires coming from the MSD box and they all look fine. The battery was only hooked up for about five minutes. I had the battery hooked up for about 8 hours the other day and there was no problems. I am totally lost why this happened!!!!

Now i am only reading 3.5 volts at the coil wires so I am guessing my MSD box is fried too. Do you guys think I need a new box now?
