So far I have restored both front fenders and the core support. The passenger side fender has 1 large patch panel behind the wheel well, and about 5 or 6 small ones in front. The driver side fender has a small patch panel behind the wheel well. The core support has patch panels that I fabbed where the bushings go. The fenders were stripped to bare metal by a combination of sand blasting, and DA with 40 grit. I used the blaster on the inside of the fenders where there is complex structure. The core support was sand blasted. I then applied two coats of etch primer and did the body work. I then applied 2 coats of K38 surfacing primer. On the core support, I just used it as a sealer, then applied 2 coats of chassis black. The fenders are in primer. Enclosed are some before and after pictures.

Kevin, you are doing some GOOD work there! Are you into the cowl area yet?

Thanks Dave,

Not yet, I will start trunk and floor pans after I finish the front clip. Oh yeah, I forgot. I also blasted and POR 15'd the inner fenders. They came out good too. I just need to get the hood done to complete the front clip. After floor pans, I will attempt the cowl work, rear package tray, driver side sail panel, and trunk to rear package tray filler panel. Should be done by 200?.

What did you to the back side of the fenders prior to priming?

Awesome, the backside of the fenders were sandblasted to bare metal. They were cleaned up with PPG wax/grease remover. I was then informed that the grease remover may have gotten into pores left by blasting, so I hand sanded with some 80 grit, blew them off, and cleaned them with a tack rag. Then two coats of etch primer, and two coats of K38 surfacing primer.
