am going to buy cowl hood for 71. want a steel hood, not the one with the flap. just the rise. would appreciate any info on who makes a good one.

GM made the best ones. So if you look for NOS +$800, used ~$300. If you are asking who is making them now, I'd go with Goodmark http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/HomePage.html .

In fact I did, with a 70 SS cowl induction hood. Several on this site have Goodmark hoods. Price is good if you can avoid shipping.

Thanks DG: I kinda figured Goodmark would be quality, but with sheet metal, I always like to ask around. There's some real poor stuff out there.
