I am replacing the firewall extension on the passenger side. I have drilled out the spot welds on the bracket that goes to the body mount, and I have cut out the floor up to the transmission tunnel. I want to take it out by the kick panel sheet metal, but can't find the spot welds. It looks like the floor pan has a lip that is bent in a downward direction, sandwiched between two sheet metal panels. Is that right? I don't have any good steel to weld to as in Wes Vann's tech reference, so I need to get the new floor pan welded to something solid on a vertical panel. Any suggestions?

As always TIA,

Kevin

most of the repro floor pans are not full panels and must be spliced in some areas. Is there an area you can splice this at below the firewall seam?

badbob, the problem is I need to get the floor pan out by the rocker panel. Yes, I have good steel on the firewall to weld to. Any suggestions to cut the floor pan out near the rocker?
