guitar? It has a BC CC system on it already but I have been sanding it and went thru to the wood in spots. What would be the best bet doing this. Heres what I came up with:

sand down paint as much as I can, wipe down with solvent. Then hit the dents and chips with filler. Cover that with a sealer then a primer. Any suggestions on whether filler primer or not? Then hit it with BC CC.

I have made up my mind on paint though. Its gonna be PPG since a dealer is right around the corner from me. Im gonna go with the darkest purple I can find. Maybe put a silver stripe around the edges by hand.

Can I get off the wall colors in the economy version of PPG? I forget what u call it. Do I need a pint of everything except the filler?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A guitar, COOL! I've used automotive refinishing products on drums, guitars, gun stocks, cabinets, countertops, pool cues, plaques, etc.
You should definately use a sandable primer after the filler work. The budget Omni line will have the colors you'll need. Any time you work with wood you need to keep in mind the solvents will wick into the wood and eventually have to come back out so it is best to not rush this project and let every application dry well. The gunstocks I've done rival the best factory finishes in appearance and durability, the depth and grain clarity is unbelievable. I usually do a urethane clear, wetsand, and reclear untill the grains are completely filled and no longer visable then wetsand and handrub to perfection. When I strip a gunstock down for refinishing I soak it down with laquer thinner to remove any gunoil that has penetrated into the wood, your guitar should be ok if it hasn't had any open pores/fiber while in use.
