I have a mostly original body on my 70 Malibu. What's missing however is what looks to be a side body molding. It runs from the rear of the front fender well, across the door, and ends in front of the rear wheel well. It is located aprox 1/2 up the body of the car. I've seen picture of cars with it but cannot find anyone who knows where I can get it. Currently my car is drilled for it and you can see where it left marks on the paint. If anyone has any idea the may help that would be great.

Sounds like body guard molding commonly installed at a dealer for protection against other people opening doors into your car.

Not to butt in, but yes, that's an aftermarket unit sold just for the reason described. Usually had an adhesive backing; clean paint area, remove protective tape and stick 'em on. The better kits (like this one appears to be) were made for specific years and models where pieces actually fit the doors/fenders/quarter panels. Lesser kits were just a 50-70 foot roll that the installed had to cut to fit. I worked parts stores back in the late 60's and early 70's and we sold a lot of them to dealers and over-the-counter as well.

Thanks Dale. The molding on mine has drilled holes, which is good news bad news, good news is, it's not coming loose, bad news is, that there are holes in the side of my car. Sorry for the highjack BLOWNBBC ;)
