This came with some parts I bought. The guy thought it was the original spare tire from 1965 Chevelle or ElCamino. It has 65 stamped in near lug hole and a B near tire valve. tire is a B F Goodridge Silvertown G78-14
Could this be an original 1965 tire/rim? thanks

I don't think that letter-designated tires came into being that early. In my GM resources, a letter-size isn't shown until the 1967 model year with the F70x14 and that was only on the SS396; 1968 and 1969 were the same with F70x14 and G70x14 for the SS396 coupe/convertible and El Camino respectively. Standard Chevelle tires were still listed as 7.35x14 or 7.75x14 and those were comparable to today's '80' series aspect ratio.

1970 is the first year listed with letter-designated tire sizes with G78 being used on the station wagons.

My reference shows a 7.35x14 tire for a 65 Chevelle and that's comparable to a E78x14 or today's P195/75 or P205/70.
