Hello guys,what are the best fitting,least amount of grief big block headers out there?I need a set for my 67 396 chevelle as well as a 3 inch exhaust system that has stock rear exit locations.We also need headers for my dads 1970 454 chevelle as well.Any first had input would be appreciated !

I'm running a set of Patriot "shorty" headers, with 1-7/8" primaries and a 3"collector on my 454 and a 3" exhaust and I love them. I was running similar tube size full length Hookers and hated everything about them. The shorties have much better clearance around the steering column and A-arms, and I can ACTUALLY drive over speed bumps in parking lots with little problems. The 1-7/8" tubing is a "special order", the standard size is 1-3/4". The Hookers I had needed to be "crimped" to clear the A-arms etc, which sucked given that they were the ceramic coated versions. I might lose 10-15 HP with the shorties, but the other benefits outweigh that. They also work nicely with aluminum heads...

I have the heddman elites 1 7/8 pri and 3in ball and socket collectors run to 3 in flowmaster kit w/ the h pipe. Had to ding(small) the headers in a couple spots and 1 ding in each muffler to clear the Hotchkis support braces. Other than that the system fits great and tucks up nicely under the car. No rattles, sounds great to me and turns some heads pulling into car cruises.. Hope this helps...Sean

Go with the Hedman 1.75" x 3" Elites. Perfect fit, no dinging anywhere. Had these on the 396 motor and now on the 460CI motor with alum heads.

Hedman Elites here and couldnt be happier. The ball and socket is great and no problems with the fit.

my exhaust exits behind the rear tire pointing towards the ground. hope this helps..Sean

I am running 2" x 3" ceramic coated Hedman Headers and a Torque Tech 3" mandrel bent system with an X-pipe and Super-40 Flowmasters. A very cool set up in my opinion, but very LOUD! :D

Well,I am finally going to order my exhaust,are you guys running hedman elite shorty's or the full length version?Anyone tried the summit 3 inch exhaust systems?
