: truly waterproof body filler?

Ok is there a body filler that is truly waterproof and wont absorb moisture? When hanging partial quarters or welding in patches, even after doing full welds it is hard to make sure every part of a seam is filled, so when filler is applied some is exposed to air from the back. I have had to repaint cars that were fine other than where filler had bubbled up around old patch seams, or other repair seams. I especially see this on the corners of doors, where you know water is going to get into the door shell and bring out any filler. Just what do you use over these seams that will NOT come back to haunt you later?

I like to use dura glass over patches, welds, etc. when doing floor pans and quarter seams. Dont know if its water proof but works for us. NAPA also has there brand of filler thats almost like the dura glass brand. Either work.

I have seen NAPA's 6369 or 6371 (both waterproof) do some amazing things on cars in towns right on the coast of California by the ocean. A lot of people live by this stuff. It is made bny evercoat you can also get it under that label by the name of "Kitty hair" or "Tiger hair".

Another option is Por-Patch. This is a thick version of POR-15 Rust Preventive Paint. When dried, Por-Patch is live a weld that prohibits rust. I've used it on so many things that I've lost count. If you need more info, you can contact me directly at 800-225-7422 or click on the link below.

Great! Now with these products are they just a first layer of filler; that is do you rough sand it and then skim coat with regular filler or can these products be finish sanded with 220?

Yes,first coat, and then coat with regular filler and finsh it off.its hard to sand the fiberglass fillers to a smooth finish.

Use another filler for the finish after. The stuff does sand a bit harder than the normal lite fillers.

I have used these fillers from the top to bottom, but ther are a little harder. NAPA's 6369 (Evercoat "Kitty hair") or Evercoat "Metal To Metal" can be feathered out pretty easy.

But as the other guys said, it is much easier to "glaze coat" it with some "iceing" or something like that.

If you are using a Polyester primer, you don't need to "glaze coat" it of course. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

A few coats of K200 will do the job.
