Is he aware that you can buy a NEW first gen camaro now?! The cowl tag is not worth 10,000 no matter how you look at it. My advice to him is "put the crack pipe down!"

You have GOT to admire an optimist. Would like to get the name of the idiot that pays $10k for this. I feel certain that I have some "valuable" junk behind the barn.

Why in the world would he think in 1971 that the car would appreciate in value? He must have been born on the planet Vulcan. If I had that insight, I would be so well off financially that I wouldn't need to keep a piece of scrap like this laying around. There's something not kosher with this story.

"But, I've had several people tell me not to separate what is left, because there just weren't that many of the big-block, four-speed cars to start with, and somebody, somewhere, should be allowed to "restore it."

Restore it, Now THAT'S funny. I like the picture of the two people in front of the car when it was complete, Like that's really going to make someone pull the trigger. LOL

I hate to rain on everybody's parade but this car if you can even call it that? will sell. Some low-life scammer will buy it and use the tag, VIN and current registration to make and pass it of as an origional, desirable and extremely high priced Camaro, then sell it to a unsespecting buyer.
You can bet the guys at Camaros.net are trying to get the VIN # of it so it can be traced in the years to come.

Shame on you guys. If someone has the where-with-all to buy this and restore it to it's former glory, what's the harm??
It puts another classic car back on the road for all to see and enjoy.
Why are you guys so negative against someone who would restore a rare classic muscle car ????

If you don't see the potential here, then you are uneducated on the subject.

lends credence to the saying, "one mans junk is another mans treasure"

Let me ask you this.
How much is this car worth in mint condition?
How much would it cost to recreate the car with the parts and information being sold in this auction?

I don't expect you to know the answers to these questions, as you cannot see the value in the car in the first place.
I guess you have Daytona yellow 1969 Camaro SS396/375 4 speed cars for sale at your local Walmart !

Fellas, fellas, can't we all just get along?:) LOL

BTW, I do believe a fool and his money soon part ways.

JMHO
1. Is this car repairable? Yes
2. Is it worth 10K? Not to me
3. Will someone buy it? Yes

I realize anything is restorable with enough cash but lets be realistic here. Obvously the only restoring of this thing will be transfering the tags to a "donor" vehicle. When it looks like this one I say just let it go. Do you really think if you showed your "buildup" pictures to the new buyer they would say, "Yea, That is a pretty good start" ? There is what 10% of a car there, So where does the other 90% come from?

I posted it because I just find it rediculous he thinks its worth almost 10K. But im sure someone will pay it eventually. There is no way to tell how long ago all the expensive matching parts were sold off, but if he wanted to sell it as a real collectible market car. He should have left the original parts with the car. Even if it was in a shed. I dont see anything wrong with it trying to become a car again, but the idea of just using the cowl tags is something that will always be frowned upon in my opinion.

Chris, I agree with you.
You know that is most likely what is going to happen :(

What kind of baffles me is the car looks to be hit high enough the frame looked undamaged. Hard to say maybe the motor got hit and pushed everything back.
