It could be you have a Station Wagon or a Camino Steering box. They are almost like an old Mopar dam neer full time power steering. YES wagons and caminos are different than a chevelle box. I am going to put a Chevelle box on my 70 SS 454 RED Sta. Wgn. At 75 mph you can blow on the steering wheel and change lanes. Bob ACES - AACA

Very rarely have I seen a power steering pump or gear box make the steering too sensitive all of a sudden.

I would start at looking at the front steering components for wear and slop. Also the front suspension parts as well, ie: ball joints and bushings.

If all looks well, look into the alignment of the front end. Not enough caster will make the car seem twitchy and overly sensitive.

Otherwise, you could always go to a manual steering box. Good luck.

i've got a 70 chevelle 350 mine is the same way. I just put bigger tires all the way around seemed to help. but the steering is way too quick. my 2001 truck doesn't turn that quick. Rick

I put a 97 or so Grand Cherokee box in my 70 & really like it. Went from 3.2 turns lock to lock to 2.75 turns. Lots more road feel, Not the over powerd 70's feel that it had.
