Hi,

I have a big block chevelle that I am wanting to switch from an auto to a stick. My question is what trans will hold up behind a strong big block. This motor dynoed at 520hp and 570ftlb of torque. These numbers are at the flywheel, and I have done some upgrades since then to up both numbers. My options are a super T-10 (richmond) or a muncie. I don't know if I can get an M-22, so a M-20 or M-21. Will they all hold up or will they break?

The T-10 is a really good tranny, but an M-20 or M-21 will live fine behind 550 HP or so. Don't speed shift the crap outta it an it'll live. They are also lighter than the Borg-Warner.

What If I decide to go with a 496 making 600 HP will I trash my original M21? I'm thinking I'll save it, an dget a TH400 and beef it up instead. Or If I get a Tremec, where will the shifter exit from ny Trans tunnel in side the car ??? Will I have to dispense with my Console ?- Anyone know?

What about a tremec tko 600? That would give you an overdrive, and with the proper clutch, they are capable of up to 800-1000hp. They also have the offset shifter option to mount perfectly inside your console as if it were stock from the factory. It does take more tunnel modifications than a muncie, but who cares if its under the carpet and its not concours anyway.
