I have a 68 Chevelle, 6 cylinder engine, powerglide transmission that does not have power steering. Could it have been ordered with power steering as an option? If so does anyone know where I could find a system for this car? I am tired of this difficult steering.
Thanks,
Bob

Yes, power steering could be ordered in any Chevelle. Most of the parts, steering box, hoses, pump, belts, etc, can be purchased at any auto parts store. A used Chevelle parts dealer would be a good place to find pump brackets.
Start with the assembly manual. It will have most of the info you're looking for as far as installation.

The brackets should probably also fit off of other model cars with the straight six ... try a few local junkyards, but if you come up empty (trucks were the last vehicles to get the straight sixes) next try a place like Sundell Auto in Slippery Rock, Pa ... do a search on either google or this website and you'll come up with their number, I don't happen to have it off hand, but I've dealt with them in the past.
Thank you for the response!
