Im fixing up my 69 chevelle, it went straight into a pole. My question is this....Im rebuilding it from the frame up, Does it matter if i get the frame sand blasted and powder coated before i get the body work and paint job done. My plans were to rebuild the engine, transmission, clean up the frame, get a new front clip, do all the interior then as the final step get it painted. Ive been hearing that i should get the body work and paint job done first then sandblast and powder coat the frame after because the paint will get on the frame during the paint job. I really want to paint it last, but if that doesnt make sense then i'll have to do the sandblasting/powder coating after the body work/paint job.

I need your advice. :(

Thanks

I would think you would want to get the frame done before the body. I would think any filler/bondo might crack out if the body flexes when removed from the frame...

You can wrap the frame in plastic, and tear that off when the paints done...

Do the frame first and then wrap it in plastic and set the car back on it. When you done with the body work and painting just remove the plastic.

Filler or Bondo (brand name) is a putty that you put on small dents or imperfections before you prime metal to smooth the finished product. Small amounts are ok but a car held together with it is not. Hope that helps you

I've done this several times before on similar projects. Works great. What I can add, use heavy 6mil plastic. I've torn the lighter stuff and it ends up getting in the way.
