I'm embarassed to say, but yes, I stripped one of the carburetor bolt holes on the bottom of my primary float bowl on my Pro-Systems 1000 HP carb! Just thought I'd get it a little tighter and then it goes "stripped". I buttoned it back up bnut now it is leaking fuel out of that part of the float bowl (imagine that!). So my question. Is it fixable or do I need a new main body (I hope not). I thought about drilling it out and tapping it, but then got worried about maybe drilling into a fuel or air slot or something, so i thought I would ask you all on here.

Yep, that's an easy fix. Just locate a Heli-coil kit size 12-24. Perma-coil is what I've used and they're about half the price of the Heli-coil brand.

Where can you buy the heli-coil or perma-coil and is it hard to put in? Any special tools needed?

I found mine at NAPA. No special tools needed. Real easy fix. Just drill out the stripped threads with the supplied drill bit that comes with the kit. Then cut the new threads and insert the coil.

Ok, so I just ordered a helicoil kit from NAPA and it will be here tomorrow. The size is dfinately 12-24 right?

Might as well do them all while you are at it. Those heli-coils are great.

I'm worried about drilling in to far. What happens if I do? Are there any things that I could potentially drill a hole in I don't want to. Again it is the bottom right hole on the primary side by the accellerator pump.

Just measure how deep the hole is and mark the bit and go slow.

John, the 12-24 size is the correct size of the float bowl bolt, right? Do I need to trim the coil any or does it come the right depth already?

12-24 is the correct size. The coils are only about 5/16ths long. Just measure the hole depth and compare, then trim if necessary.
