Is a dual action sander the same as a random orbital sander?

I own a Bosch random orbital sander I use for woodworking all the time. Can I use it for auto body too or is there a difference?

A DA can either be a random orbital or a spinning sander like a grinder. Hence the DA, I dont usually use the straight spinning unless I am polishing. You could use your bosch for it if you like, I take it that its electric. If you can afford it and have the air compressor, I would get a DA. Its a great tool, I use mine for body work and polishing after color sanding. Just spin off the sanding disc and add the appropriate buffing pad and voila.
