Anyone have any experience with this 2" Fiberglass Cowl Hood (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2458080846)?

Any input will be appreciated.

I'm interested too. I'm looking at the 4" cowl for the 64. VFN wants $440 and Glasstek wants $400.It's $380 on Ebay. Both of these companie are in Illinios too. I wonder if Tamaraz buys directly from one of them for a discount.I've heard good things from both of these Mfg's.

We started with an Unlimited 2 inch cowl hood (big mistake!) not very well made and we were starting to have warping and waves from the engine heat. Luckily????!!!! someone torched the car after vandalizing it. In the rebuild we decided to go with a Glasstec 4 inch cowl and that was a good move. Glasstec fits nice and uses the stock hinges (with low tension springs)and the stock latch. Very well made hood. The only problem we ran into was the paintshop ordered the hood through OPG and we waited over five weeks because they said it was back ordered. We ahad the shop call Glasstec directly and they made the hood and shipped it in two weeks. There are pics in the top two links in my signature.

David,
I talked to the guy from that ad. The hoods he sells are Glasstek hoods. Mine was $20 cheaper than at the glasstek webpage! So I ordered it from him.
Also found out that Glasstek is a spin off from VFN, sort of. I guess the son didn't like the way the father did things, so he started his own company (glasstek).

I've been pretty satisfied with my GlassTek hood on my 69 El Camino. Just wish the underside was finished as nicely as Harwood does theirs.

I got the 2 inch for my 67 from Tamraz. They do sell Glasstek (They're in the same neighborhood) and mine was completely finished on the underside. My whole purpose for the glass hood was because of clearance issues, and I was a little disappointed that I had to cut such a nice looking piece. They told me it's easier to build and is a stronger piece with the finished underside. I would definitely recommend it.

closed chamber Corvette heads that upped the compression to 10.5/1, Comp solid cam, and one chamber Flowmaster race mufflers running through 3 inch stainless exhaust. I don't have a sound bite but to best describe how it sounds.......It always sounds like it is really pissed off! The 65 is Anthony's car (my son) and the 66 is mine which is just being completed. graemlins/hurray.gif
