I'm getting water leaking into my trunk after it rains or when I wash the car. I think it's coming from the back glass.

1. Do you need a special tool to remove the chrome moldings from around the window?

2. If the channels are rusted, what's the best method for rust removal?

3. Any tips for replacing the molding and resealing the glass?

1) yes, it is available from any parts place or tool distributor. it will take practice to use it correctly. it looks like an arrow head with a handle. push the tool under the molding at an angle, so one side of the "arrowhead" is up against the channel. drag it until you catch a clip, then push the tool forward

2) A-bodies rust really bad here, especially with a vinyl roof. the right way is to replace the rusty parts, but you can also, sand blast the channel, or roloc it. make sure you weld up any holes you find.

3) use 3m...

hope this helps, somebody with better advice should be along shortly... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

ps- you'll need a windshield tool or a wire to cut the window out...

Went that route with my 70 Malibu.

Found a local glass shop that pulled the rear glass, and reinstalled it for $40.

Inbetween, I brought it home, cleaned the gutter, found a couple small pin holes and used POR-15 putty. Top coated with POR paint.

In retro I should have pulled the rear glass myself, just for the experience, as the rear glass is more durable than a windshield.

If ya got major rust holes, there is a repop panel that would'nt be too bad to have welded in.
