I was told that when storing a car for a long period of time you don't lift the car totally off the ground but just enough to take some off the pressure off of the springs. I don't know for sure but i could be wrong. Could someone clarify this?

i was told to place carboard under the entire car to stop moisture from coming up from the concrete and eating a hole in you floor boards.

To start or not to start that is the question...
This should get quite a bit of responce! I do not start my car during the long north east winters. I have not started my car for 18 winters and have not had any motor problems (same motor no rebuilds). I do change the oil BEFORE winter storage. Also disconnect the negative battery cable and that's it!

P.S. I use moble 1 oil.

1: Cardboard is not a vapor barrier.
2: Moisture/humidity does not come up out of concrete and condense on a car above.
3: I knew a guy that burned his car and house when oily cardboard got on fire. :(

FORGOT TO ADD that i also have plastic under carboard graemlins/clonk.gif . ya oily carboard can get on fire. But my partents make me keep it under there so my velle does not leave ANY spots on the floor in the garage. its also nice to work on the car with carboard under you than working on freezing hard concrete in the cold chicago weather:D
