Don't worry, the previous owner of my chevelle thought beer fixed everything. At least thats what I thought when I discovered a bondoed in beer can in the front fender. graemlins/beers.gif

Shawn,

So you were driving around with an open beer all the time ! No wonder you couldn't keep it in a straight line ;)

My car had the wadded up screen with bondo over it. Terrible job too. Soaked up water like a sponge.

Yeah the previous owner of my 69 el camino thought bondo fixed things too. The right rear quarter panel has bondo an inch thick. graemlins/clonk.gif

A friend of mine bought a '70 Chevelle (standard "base" model) and it had cement in the rear lower quarters as well as wire mesh. The car was last owned by an elderly gentleman.

the guy that did my 72 took adhesive backed sanding disks, cut them to fit around the rear wheel houses and bondo them in.

I've got a gallon of bondo in my 72 restification. 7/8s of it sanded off onto the floor while I taught myself how to do it right. :D

I just looked at a 69 convertible at a body shop that a guy had brought in for restoration..the shop started stripping paint at the filler at the TOP of the quarter is over 1" thick the whole length of the panel!  Believe it or not it was done nice enough that is wasnt evident until the grinder hit it. No cracks either. If I end up with the car I will post pics, I have never seen filler that thick before.

I recently purchased a 70 Malibu "SS" clone project which had 8 Ohio state license plates covering the rotted out floor boards. They have since been removed and two full pans are being welded in their place. I feel your pain!

yeah my entire car is filler.

my fenders have about 1/2" of filler on them, all around, my 1/4's, god i dont wanna know how much is on them. my wheel wells even have bondo on them. i cant wait to really strip my car and see how much filler there really is. i know there is about 6000 rivets in that car as well.
