i have a 67 thats a street strip car. i removed all the ac and heating and housings, and have several large holes to deal with. i have the cover for a non ac car to cover one of the holes but have 3 left. what is a nice way to repair this other than just screwing a piece of sheetmetal over the holes, i dont expect it to look factory but it would be nice if it looked good. thanks.

We're doing the same thing with my kids 67. He's going with the Vintage Air. What we're going to do is cut one big peice of metal to cover as much as we can, and then use either seem sealer or body glue to hold it on. Someone also they make some kind of screw that you can break the head off of it. Only bad thing about doing it this way is you probly would never get the patch back off. For us that doesn't matter. I'm having the same problem with a 64. I'm going to make a cover for a majority of the firewall, get it powder coated, glue and screw it in.

I used .050 aluminum, black RTV sealant, and 1/8" pop-rivets.

Entire process, cutting and all, took about 10 minutes. Installed from interior of car.

One of the panel bonding products such as those made by Fusor. Dura-Mix, or 3-M would be a much beter choice than sealers, etc. that could break loose eventualy, especially on a drag car.If you bond in a panel with with the correct products and do it correctly, the seam will be stronger than a weld. A seam sealer can then be applied to the seam.

did aluminum firewalls go away with pro street?...on a 66 i just made a piece of aluminum to cover the whole shmear, it looked pretty good, and it was cheap and ez ...on my present el camino i welded all the holes closed and used a piece off fairly stout piece sheet steel on the drivers side (for some reason its set back just a bit) and then finished it like a body panel (filler, primer, paint, i also cut back that big lip all along the top where the body pieces are spot welded together) to smooth it completly, but for racing, pounds equal 10ths, so, if that was hi priority id just use some light aluminum (maybe a rolled bead or two?) rivets or something fancier (a few dzus fasteners might look cool) and lightweight sealer

Welded patched into the AC ducts on the 66 SS. Removed all extra firewall holes to get a cleaner firewall look.

I need the piece for the factory A/C that bolts to the right kick panel inside area on a 66-67 if anyone has that left over... mine was pretty rusty and I want to keep the factory air.
