I have a big mismatch from my hood spike down to the hood latch system. The spike comes down about an inch away from the catch towards the rear fo the car. I am guessing one of the parts might be from a 66. This is the first time I have had the hood on the car since rebuilding it. Are there any numbers or clues. I am considering grinding out the slots on the hood spike to get it to adjust farther forward. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you fit the hood without the striker installed? Your hood may be too far back. That and your rad support could be too far forward, a little here and a little there is all it would take.
