Preface - this is not for the Chevelle
Don't know about you guys, but I always seem to have a motor is some state of build during the winter. Went through my accumulated parts, I am a block and a set of rods away from a complete 502 motor and for that matter, if I do this frugile (ok : cheap), I can pirate the near fresh rods from the 402 motor. Anyway, had thought about this prior and ran it through DD2000.
Using my 104CC 290 heads with 2.19/1.72 valve combo I would get a 9.7/1 CR. Used a Crane 296 hyd. for the DD sim (236/246, 112LSA) and only get about 450HP at 5000. But, I do get 450TQ at 2000 and jumps to well over 500 approaching 3000 and stays there - flat as a table. I have been thinking of building a BBC powered streetrod after the Chevelle is done. Something geared to cruise at about 2000 RPM at 65. I kind of think this combo would get it done.
Edit - plugged in my NX279HR (230/242, 113LSA) roller cam. Numbers jumped to 475HP @ 5000, 575TQ @ 3500 with 492FTLB right at 2000.
Makes you wonder!
