I just went to the "Zone" to get some wiper refill's for the 68 Camaro I just bought. I wanted refill's to fit the original blades.

The Zone no longer carries wiper refills, just wiper blades. That means if you want continue to use the correct steel blades and just replace the rubber wiper you are now SOL! The reason given by the zone manager was the fact that many newer cars now have "staggered" size wiper blades, the refill packs of 2 were causing return problems and lower sales since a customer must not buy 2 different refill packages.

I drove down the street to Advanced and while they did still have refills, they did not have the 15 inch refills needed for a Camaro. I asked David who manages the store if they also were going to discontinue refills and he responded that they probably would since the Zone did.

Moral of the story, if you are OK with the ugly black new style wiper blades on your classic car, you are OK. If you want to keep the original blades and install refills you should probably buy a spare set if you can find them!

Visit www.partsamerica.com (http://www.partsamerica.com) . They're totally amazing. Their database is huge and fully cross-referenced for "other vehicles this part fits". PartsAmerica is an umbrella over Checker, Shuck's and Kragen. You'll find that Trico now has a "Classic" line, just for us. :) The 15" sets for my wagon are $10.99.

Also, if you print the online price information for what you want, the local store will give you that price, even if their regular price is higher! A clerk told me "Wow! That's half our regular price!" on a master cylinder. :):)

You can get Vintage wiper blades at NAPA, they won't have them in stock, you'll have to order them. Hope this helps.

I was in my neighborhood Kragen Auto Parts this afternoon. They had in stock good old Trico 15" refill sets (my size) for 7.99. Checker and Shucks are related stores in other areas. And, as before, PartsAmerica is the online parent of all three.

I bought a pair of refils at Pep Boys. Not Trico or Anco, but they had them.

I think part of it is shelf space. Now they have several brands, several styles within those brands, maybe even more cars/SUVs using different sizes.
