ChevelleHappens

Greetings,
My name is Joe and I am a recovering Chevelle owner - that is I finally came to my senses and got another one. Actually three. Had a 70 Malibu in HS (1977) and drove it to death. Had a 69 SS fall into my lap (no motor or trans but going to make it rightous again), built a shop, moved the 69 in, got ready to work on it, got the fever, started looking at ebay, crapped when I saw how much these cars are worth today. I say that because I bought a 70 SS LS-6 TH400 car in 1983 for $75. Motor sounded like a thrashing machine as it had been driven without oil. This was 5 miles from where I live today. Went to get the money and two brothers stole the car from me by offering the owner $100. I bought the gas tank for my Malibu and alas, there was the build sheet. They pulled the motor out, disassembled and it sat in a field for years. Probably the car and the motor ended up in a wrecking yard (the car sat in the same place for ~6 years).
Anyway, I digress. Got the fever, started looking at ebay and ended up with what really appears to be a survivor car 72 Malibu convertible - local from a guy I used to work with (not ebay). Numbers match all around, 67.5K miles, auto, 307, really fun to drive, cranberry red, white interior. But I'd really like an SS to have fun in!
A month later I bought a 71SS 454 TH400 that I'm putting back together so I have something to drive while I fix the 69.
Hence the name "ChevelleHappens."
Anyway, I've been out of it for a while. This forum seems to pop up a bunch when I do google searches. Seems like some guys who really know it or want to know it, hope to use your brains to help me do it right.
Thanks for having me,
Joe
