: Reproduction molding quality ????

I posted want ads in the members classified section, but if I have to buy repro, are their better quality alternatives available. I recently ordered top of fender repro moldings for my '69. These are not even close to the radius of the fender - going back for refund. I should replace my rear tail light bezels. Didn't remember mine being this pitted when I took them off 2 years ago. These are available repro, but for $110.00 / pr, I would hate to have them show up and fit real poor. What alternatives have guys used, can these be replated??

Also, I have not located the front & rear side marker light gaskets. I got a set in, was told the '69 Camaro & Chevelle were the same - not even close. Has anyone seen these new or maybe I will just need to use closed cell foam tape to make them.

I have been pleased with what I bought from opgi. I saw the side marker gaskets in the car shop catalog. You can request a free catalog from them at www.truckandcarshop.com (http://www.truckandcarshop.com).

El Camino bed mouldings seem to suffer the same bad fit problems. About $700 to get 7 original pieces done and they turned out excellent. At least I know that they fit. If everyone just returned the ill fitting parts, the manufacturers would have to shape up. They have to know that their stuff doesn't work. I can't imagine them not knowing.

Top of fender moldings on a '69? Do you mean wheel well moldings? If so, looks like they haven't changed in the last few years. The tail light bezels I got about 6 yr ago were actually pretty good. Also any emblems from Trim Parts are usually good quality. Most Chevelle parts houses sell them.

Top of fender moldings are at top of fender adjacent to the windshield. These match the rear hood trim.

My top of fender moldings needed some tweaking...they still aren't as good as original....
