Hi all. I thought my wife was gonna finally get to move her chevelle under its own power Sunday. You know the story. 2 steps forward, three steps back. Anyways, I have an alignment problem with the Z bar for the clutch. It is at a drastic angle and I need to correct. I am gonna have to fab. a bracket on the block to raise it up and get it straight. McCleod said some of the early Chevrolets had a brakcet instead of a boss in the side of the block. Has anyone out there had to do this and if so how did they fab. their bracket? What I thought I would do is use 3/16 flat stock and Use a countersink machine screw to attach it to the original boss where the pivot ball went and attach the back of the braacket to a bolt on the bellhousing. Any help will be much appreciated or input.

Thanks,
John Weaver

When we installed the 4 speed in my brothers 69 Caprice we had to fab a bracket. It bolts to the block where the ball goes then it goes back to the tranny, makes a turn to bolt to the bellhousing. Then we lined up where we wanted the ball, drilled a hole, cut the threaded side down and welded it from the back. Worked like a charm !!!
