I was offered a complete short block today. It is supposed to be a 425 cu. in.
motown block w/ forged steel crank,H-beam rods, and Ross dished pistons. What would be a good price to offer for this combo? Will it accept all my stock accessories? Can a sbc be built to a 425?Any replies greatly appreciated!!!!

Yes, a 4.18 bore, and a 3.875 stroke will give you a 425ci.

if you buy that small block keep in mind that you will need heads with at least 195 cc intake runners and at least 205 intake valve or you will choke it severly . i did a motown 427 4 years back and started with a cast iron head with a 220 intake and a 208 valve . i played the head game threw money at it went through 5 diffrent sets of heads it started with iron pro toplines went to dart heads 230,s then 215,s then the brodix rr and then the afr 195 none of wich made the pull power or torque by seat of the pants feel that the iron heads made. now its no longer a 427 its a 3.48 stroke again with a set of custom ross 4.130 bore psitons that were costlt and the afr 195 head and it runs just fine id drive it anyplace with a/c on . the lil 427 was a huge gas hog

Thanks for the replies guys! I talked to the owner of the engine today and he said he needs the money and that he would take $2500.00 for the short block!
