Hi group. Things have went real good the 66 at the body shop since he got it at the end of January. Too good actually. The wife wants a 2" cowl hood and the only option as of this time is either a fiberglass or mold a scoop on the stock hood. Here is my delima. For those that have been looking for it, Goodmark finally has the 2" cowl prototype but have not done a test fit as of 2-19-03. Even if it fits, it will be 12 weeks before they get any in for shipment. My body man will need something in about 2 weeks. I have read as much in the archives as possible on the glass hoods, but cannot make a decision on who has the best glass hood out there. Any opinions would be great. My other option is to get the steel scoop from good mark and let the body shop mold it in which I am sure would turn out good but even he has said it will not look as nice as stamped piece. He has offered to let me hold up on painting it until Goodmark gets the hood in stock but he has a busy schedule, so once it leaves it may go back until the end of the year to get painted. The other option he has offered is to paint the hood when it is avaliable but with my luck, something will not go right with that deal. There are alot of guys that have been through the trenches with stuff like this on the board so I would like to know, what would you do???

Thanks a ton in advance and sorry for the long wind,

John Weaver

the wife wanted a 2" cowl hood?! here's my cent-and-a-half.. i would spray the car and make sure theres enough paint from the same can to do the hood and wait until the hood comes in. that way you can finish the whole car except for the hood and can drive it without one, its really cool!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif if you really want a steel hood, dont settle for anything less, itll be a chip on your shoulder for a while as it has been with mine.

Well, to clarify the car, it's hers. She has wanted one since I have known her, so thats how we have arrived to this point. The bodyman has suggested that about the paint. I have bad luck when I try to do things like this. I do not blame Goodmark, but I wish they had been more upfront about when the hood was going to be avaliable. They told me Jan.-Feb. orginially and that is how I got in this situation.

Thanks,
John Weaver

John,
GlassTek Makes a good 2" hood. I had one on my 66 (1st one they made) and it still looks like the day I got it. It has really held up great (bought in 95)
Hope this is some help.

John, I second the Glasstek hoods, my 2" cowl fits great on my 66, very little prep work needed, lighter also. If you want to check it out. Good Luck #630-978-9897.
