I bought a laptop(HP Pavilion zv6000) for my son, running XP Pro. I Get the message below after the screen saver kicks on. I've changed the name of the computer from K**** to M*** with the help of a friend of my daughters via the registry, but In don't want to mess in the registry again without direction and her friend that helped me is gone for a month.
Unlock Computer
This computer is in use and has been locked
Only M***\K**** P*****(user) or an aministrator can unlock this computer.
I click on ok and get iinto the computer but I'd like to get rid of this message id possible.

Thank you  Now if I could just get any reference to her name(previous owner) removed I'd be a happy camper. Pete

If you are admin, just go into user accounts and delete hers....its that easy. That is if I understand you right.

you cant delete the administrator account
Since when?
If he is an admin he should be able to delete any account, admin or user.
You should be able to delete any account from the built-in administrator account. Though I don't think you can delete the built-in admin.
To log in to her, I think you have to go to Safe Mode only. When the logon appears, you should see the account name exactly "administrator". Log in with that no password.
From there you can go to Control Panel and Users and see if you can delete her. If not that either, right-click My Computer and choose Properties. Then Advanced and click the user settings button. See if you can remove it from there.
If not there either, click Start-run and type this exactly "control userpasswords2". That has ONE space after control. From there you should be able to delete account.

There has to be at least one administrator user profile on a windows machine. You can change the name of it as long as it still has admin rights, but it’s still an admin account.
There are several ways of renaming it, if this has not been resolved, email me and I will help you. The results will also be posted here to help others.
