I'd take it, but I want something that will take a little work, probably a good buffing would get it good enough for a driver.

This would be a good one for somebody just starting out that didn't know to much, way to easy for us pros.

That will buff right out. LOL What the heck, I'd need to know what it weighs before placing a bid so I could see what scrap steel is going for.

You guys can make fun all you want. Check it out again. He has a bid already. This auction is very well written. He explains every minute detail. He knows what he has, and has a real good idea what it's worth, if the right guy sees it.
Check out some of his other auctions. He has a 29 Franklin for like $4500 opening bid. The best part of these auctions, are his comments. He has an attitude, that's for sure, but I can see where he gets it. Some of the guys asking questions don't read his auctions completely, and most people think they are a joke. He is a serious seller with some obscure stuff.
I don't know him, but I can see his side of the story.

What a joke. There doesn't seem to be two square inches of usable steel on that thing. Sorry but if he has a bid on that thing, it's got to be a shill bid until proven otherwise. I like the part where he has "It's PROBABLY only good for parts." Gee, ya think? That's being a little pessimistic isn't it? Maybe it was rare, but destroyed rare trash is still trash.

I respectfully disagree with Gary Salesman. I think the seller is a jack@ss. To say that he turned down $2000 for that is a lie or else he's a bigger idiot than the guy who offered him the 2 grand. He keeps saying that mint cars like this sell for a hundred grand. That's not saying much. Copo clones sell for more and would be way easier to put together. Hell, most cars of that age, not just such "rare" ones, in "mint" condition would go for as much at Barrett Jackson. There is not one part of that car that you'd end up putting on a restored $100,000 car. He talks about the interior dash switches being there - You really think those switches still work? Really? You think you'd really use those door panels? You think that power antenna just needs a new Ebay mast to work? He puts everything in the most optimistic light, but one look at the photos tells you that's not realistic. It's all junk or else would be cheaper to get it from another source and end up looking better. He talks about how he's gonna see a lot of bidding action because so many people are watching this auction. Three guesses why people are watching - hint: it's not because they are in the buying mood.

"Frame is solid except for having the front cut off and bent"...I'd hate to see a frame that isn't solid by his description.:p

With what thes cars are worth finished, http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5013-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5014&c=7&m=1031&d=1568&y=1953&vi=63076&z=76049&da=-1

Someone out there is trying to clone one for sure.....somewhere. The trim tag and a few spare parts from this hulk could put some resale car crook on the fast track to making big bucks.

If you had that car in your possession for whatever reason, what would you do with it?
Would you haul it off to the junk yard? Or, would you try to capitilize on it's rarity, like this guy is doing?

It would be morally wrong to crush a rare car in my book, no matter what condition it's in. This one is worse than I ever thought possible! but still wouldn't crush it.

"I didnt see the 9500 buy it now."

BwaaaaHaaaaaaa! I didn't see that either. This guy really is a jerk. I agree if this was yours, why not try to sell it, but to suggests that it's value is anywhere near that is idiocy.

Maybe he needs to have that Gorilla/Igor that was in the other e-bay thread (Ferraris)to be in his pics. to help sell. Or maybe he could blame the condition of the Buick on her/HIM the gorilla.

Without reserves, buy it now prices disapear after someone bids. Like I said, I may be wrong, but I still believe the guy is legit. It costs $40 to list a car in the section he listed. He has a bidder, so it is now sold, which costs another $40. He is into this for $80. You really thing he had some shill bid it for him hoping someone else comes along and outbids his shill. I don't think so.
Also, like I said in my earlier post. Look at his other auctions. He has lots of stuff similar to this, some very rare stuff. He also has sold alot of items. I suppose if you lose $80 on all of those because of shill bidders, and you sold emough, you could make up the loss on volume.
That car is junk no doubt. I don't think any of us would tackle a chevelle in that condition, I certainly wouldn't. But to the right person it very well may be. I still think it's legit.

Wow, you got to admit, this guy has some pretty interesting stuff to sell. Must have an old farm or vintage junk yard, since he has quite a collection of old stuff. Most of it looks in pretty rough shape though, takes a buyer with a strong stomach for those projects.

He probably gets the cars for free... Just stops with his flatbed everytime he sees a junker and tells the people he will haul it off for free,,,

"I still think it's legit"

I'm not saying he's a fraud; the thing about the shill bidder was kind of a joke. I'm saying he is asking a premium price for worthless junk. If he can find a fool to pay him money then more power to him. I see you are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt based on this other items for sale. I'm judging him only on this one item. All his other items might be a bargain, but that doesn't make this one anything more than trash. As I said before, destroyed trash is still trash. You can talk about how rare it is, but if it is prohibitively expensive to fabricate/buy parts, it may as well be a 92 Accord. To his credit, he's posted alot of pictures, but I don't think his description of the damage is honest. Look at that car....what on that thing (other than the VIN) is going to be useable on a high dollar restored rare car (he is insinuating that this car could be made into a $100,000 car)? If you can find something useable, don't you think you could open Hemmings and find a much nicer piece for similar or less investment?

I don't begrudge him the opportunity to sell it; it's just his air of arrogance that I laugh at. Turned down $2000 (so you better offer a lot more)..., buy it now price of 9 grand....get real. Can anyone tell my where there is any value left is this beast?
