The last race here had some excitement, some good and some not so good. We got some Englishtown type air and lots of runs were aborted because of wheelstands and out of shape runs. One Mustang crashed but nobody was hurt. Some were very fast and didn't count because they were time trials and not qualifing runs. The guy who won the class last year ran a 8.12 @ 165+ and looked like the odds on favorite to win this race. Then in qualifing he could keep the car out of the air. This years points leader had one wheel stand after another but got it together when the two final rounds came and won the race with a better reaction time and better run than last years champ. A Pro Mod from Missouri came down and blew the record away with a 6.02 @ 234+. He said it ran 3.94 at the eighth mile. The air was about zero ft. D.A. for most of the race. My son sat this race out and maybe it is best as conditions were very cold for the majority of the day. At two o'clock it was 62 degrees and three hours later it was 53 and dropping. By the end of the race it was around 46 degrees and not too humid (46 percent). My friend John's Kestral 4000 said it was -302' air but mine showed +47 ft. D.A. so i don't know who's was correct.

I hear ya Harold, it's that time of the year when the air gets real good and these guys start laying the smack down. I just got back from Albany and saw our first DOT drag radial run in the 4's (4.97). He carried the left front tire nearly the entire 1/8th mile. Another guy put it on the bumper, got air under the back tires and came down real hard, major splatage, ended his day. And yet another fella in the 7.0 class dead hooked yanking the front end a good 4', snapped an axel, did a 45 degree turn and laid the car down right on top of the guard rail,,,UGLEEEY!!

Which Pro Mod Harold? Us little guys will be in Tulsa next weekend for the CDRA finals, only running 1/8th mile though :( It was Cody Barklage and only a red light stopped him as he raced his brother Zack and barely went red. It was COLD, i froze all day and night. Sometimes we question our sanity, don't we? I thought that 6.12 that Swearengen laid down a couple of weeks ago was smokin but Barklage's GTO was a little Quicker and faster.

That Pro-mod was flying.....it is just a matter of time, a short time, that one of them goes into the 5's.......... legally. Most of the Pro Mods here run the eight mile distance in the southeast part of the USA. I hear they have already gone 5.9s in Australia. One of the '63 Vette bodied ones ran 3.81 @ 198 in the eighth which would have been a five second quarter mile if run on the full 1/4 mile distance. That GTO bodied one went into high gear at about the 1100 foot mark when it ran the 6.02. It looked to have plenty of RPM left when he hit the traps.
