View Full Version : 66 front brake hose bracket location??

Can someone tell me if the front brake hose bracket gets mounted back on the frame behind the front wheel or is it mounted on the outward curved portion of the frame up closer to and almost over top of the wheel.

There looks to be two locations per side where this bracket goes. This is the bracket that joins the hardline brake fitting to the front brake hose and bolts to the frame with one bolt and one small bracket "ear" sticking through the frame to hold it in place.

I can't remember for sure and my 66 chevelle manuals don't have a diagram of it.

Any help or diagrams would be appreciated. Thanks.

To use your description "It is mounted on the outward curved portion of the frame up closer to and almost over top of the wheel."

See here - middle left of the page. Not sure the flex hose would reach otherwise...

Thanks JJ67SS, I wanted to make sure. I see where you routed the hardline to where it crosses the frame just in back of the upper rear control arm pivot bolt. So then your hard line comes into the bracket from the top and flex hose comes into the bracket from the bottom side correct?

In the picture I still have not connected the hard line, it still has the red thread protector on it.

Yes - hardline comes into the top of the flex line connection from over the top of the frame, just behind the bolt for the upper a-arm. I had the bend the hard line a little to get a perfect fit, but it was close. Flex line connected through the bottom of the bracket.

JJ67SS, thanks again. That points me in the right direction. Just waiting on UPS now for stainless flex hoses to arrive. I'll be making my own hard lines as well.

Good luck with your project, (assuming it's not finsihed) it looks great!
