I just finished welding in my new trunk panel (3 parts). From the top I tacked it down about every 1/2 inch. Do I need to run a complete weld along the entire seam? How much welding should I do on the bottom side? After I grind down the weld spots, should I run a thin layer of bondo to cover seams or is seam sealer sufficient? I plan on spackle painting the trunk and laying a precut piece of trunk mat down for the final touches. How much of the weld marks will the spackle paint cover? I would like to make it difficult to tell a new trunk panel has been welded in.

well if you want to make it unnoticeable, I would recommend welding a complete seam and grinding it down on both sides.. this way you will eliminate any ridge then you can fill and be able to prime and paint to an undetectable finish

I use plastic filler in the ground down weld seems in the trunk area and on the bottom
across the welded seams. The fuel tank braces cover a big portion og the bottom seams . makeing it almost undetectible.
