I have another power steering question........
If i wanted to use a u-joint instead of the flexible coupling to connect my grand cherokee box to my 69 steering column, what size/type/brand should i get (3/4" output, but what # splines to what #splines, dd or what?) i was looking on jegs but theres so many combinations I wasn't sure which to use. also does one type of alloy have any advantages over another ( i.e. is plain steel as good as aluminum or stainless just without the bling factor?) thanks

anybody?

I've looked around and I think it's 3/4" 26 spline to 1" round, can anyone confirm this??? also I believe I have the two part steering column so as long as I only run a u-joint at the steering box connection it should still be okay body-flex-wise correct?(read that was a problem in a search thread)
thanks again!!:D

Hey bad'bu I'm running with two universal joints on my column with a GC steering gear...... can't wait to change it back to a rag joint. Way too much road noise coming through tha steering wheel. Call Lee Manu. in California and tell them what gear you have and they will sent you the correct splined Rag Joint.

excellent, thank you. I was pretty sure I was just going to have to find the right vendor to speak with (summit and jegs tech suppport didn't inspire confidence on this topic)....

Flaming River is the place to call if you want a U-joint. You'll need to measure your steering shaft, but they'll know everything else you'll need to order the right one.

tmcmillan5, what are you doing with your old U-joint when you swap? I'm planning to put one on my car this winter... I want it for its performance benefits, and am not too concerned with NVH.
