How can I spot if a Cowl Induction hood is an original GM hood, or a reproduction?
Are there any identifying numbers stamped on the originals that are not on any of the repro's?

No takers on this? There has to be a way to tell them apart.

I heard something about the bolts for the flapper door are molded into the OEM hood, but not on the aftermarket. Any information is appreciated.

Usually you can spot an aftermarket panel by the crummy fit,but the Goodmark hoods are almost perfect so its hard to tell.

easy. gm has nut welded under where the flapper door bolts to. repro just have holes. so if it has threads its gm. I have seen this several time but I guess someone could make them with weld nuts in them.

Thanks DZAUTO, and FO_FDYFO. Who was the manufacturer of your hoods?

I don't have any idea who the mfg was. You can call OPG and see if they have that info.

I don't know either. I bought it used. and I have seen more then one at different places with out the weld nuts. if they are not there it is a dead give away. and I guess what I am hearing too is if it does have them it still does not mean it is gm. so I guess you don't have your answer yet. if it has the weld nuts then I don't know how to tell if it is gm or not.
