Hard to answer without knowing what transmission you are thinking about.

You need to llok at a picture of a 66 with a bench seat and a 4 Speed. Also look at a picture of the lever for the Chevelle shifter in a bench seat car. Any of the catalogs from the parts guys should have it pictured.

TKO is something I don't know a lot about...lots of experience with Richmond but that wont help you. You are gonna HAVE to find a way to get that curved shift lever or something like it mounted on the TKO or else the seat is gonna be right smack dab where the lever needs to go when you are in 2nd and 4th. THis collision is the same as ya get with a Muncie and a bench seat carif you dont have the correct bench seat car lever.

I suppose ya could just heat the TKO lever up and bend as required but I don't know how particular you are about appearance.

Also be careful who you use if you get one of the special levers for the TKO. I don't have experience with the offset shifter product but I know from personal experience with a Richmond that ya gotta be careful who you do business with.

I believe the answer is no for a T-56 6 speed and yes for the TKO-500 and TKO-600.

The Tremec TKOs actually have several positions for the shifter and one corresponds exactly to the Muncie position. In that particular vintage you can even get a special offset shifter to put it in exactly the same place as stock.

The only other special thing is the right shift lever, and that does not appear to be a problem either.

I have a tko with bench on my 68 el camino. Works great. The good thing about the TKO is you can reverse the shifter so it is further forward to clear the bench.

Thats good...because I am in the process of putting my bench seat interior in right now and I'm pretty sure when I get the money I am going to get a kit from classic chevy 5 speed and I was going to be rather up set if I couldnt keep my bench because I love the look of a bench and they are so comfortable

... they are so comfortable
Huh? :p

You must be talking about a different bench than any I have seen then. Mine is definitely what I would call an aquired taste. Always feels like I am falling off out the door.

For an El Camino the bench is very useful though with the capability to haul one more butt in relative comfort :hurray:

maybe its the fact that i can lay my arm across the whole back of it or because my lady friend can snuggle up with me :)

My 69 Elky has a Viper T56 and bench seat. Its Pro 5.0 shifter has a straight Long lever.
