Poompapa's 72

I have a 72 Malibu Convertable. I'm converting from the sweep to cluster gauges... and... from bench to bucket seats with floor console. Automatic 4 speed (Bowtie Overdrive 700 R4) moving from the column to the console. What a pricey conversion this is. But, I'm in it too far to back out. Now, I'm getting to the wiring portion... it seems I'll need a new wiring harness for my gauges (and new sending units). And, it just dawned on me that I'll need to send power to my console. So, there's two harnesses I'll need. I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and buying a whole new interior wiring harness from Painless Wiring. It has the option to drop in cruise control and power windows later. As long as I'm replacing SOME wires on the interior, I might as well do them all. The carpet & seats are out and the new interior is going in soon. I just thought I might tackle this now, while it's relatively easy to get to.
Has anyone done this? What was your experience? Are there some other special parts I'll need to get along with this (you know- those "oh, by the way" parts). Any links to companies/people that sell good kits, etc?
Man, this restoration project has taken on a life of it's own. But, I know I'm not the first to discover the snowball effect. I'll be glad when it's relatively done- it's never completely done. :clonk:
