hi. comp solid roller let loose in my 496- 55 chevy. was 10.1-1 w/254-260 on 112 lsa, brodix rr 271 oval port heads. 3800 lbs., 4.57 gear, 400 trans. i`m going to have a fresh 498, w/ a little head work. milled .020, 5 angle, & bowl blend. cam will be in the 270 to 278 range on a 110 lsa.my options for pistons are 17cc(10.5-1) or 43cc(13.3-1). streetability is not a concern. opinions, please? car ran 10.82 @ 123 mph.

With that cam and duration i think it would need the compression. however i run a 8.1 with a 256/260 and run 11.50 with a 461. i would build a pump gas motor. you have the cubes to run the number.

My experience so far is with 454 engine, oval heads, 10.5 compression, 262/272 solid roller.

Runs low 11 times on 91 octane pump gas at 2500 foot elevation track.

Dynamic compression in the 7.5 range which is a bit low but still works good enough for econo bracket car.

Your limiting yourself to special fuel with the 12:1, for a few extra ponies?
