My buddy has a 97' Ford Explorer. The catalytic converter is shot and I was wondering if I can just put in a pipe to bypass it? Money is tight and this would save some $$$. Thanks in advance. MATT.

You can.....but.... obviously not emissions legal. Ummm....im not sure if the explorer has an O2 sensor after the cat or not. But if it does then you need an O2 simulator that can be bought from summit. Any thing else people wanna throw in go for it. Good luck

Yes, it does, get a universal fit with the correct pipe size and install it.

Cats are dirt cheap these days, just put a new one in. Its gonna stink without one and will be a bit louder.

I am not saying its a good idea to bypass the cat like this but.... (plus for the price of the O2 sim. you could get a universal fit cat).... we put a universal fit cat on my bros 95 blazer and it was a pain!!! I dont know how many tools or how much know you have but, it took quite a bit of welding and finagling to get the thing in there!! Maybe the Exploder has has more room to work if so i would get the cat. But its up to you!!
