I would like to find my pp and bs but i have no idea where to look. If we find out where the car was built, then we can see where people with 71's from that factory found there's. thanks everyone

1971 Chevelle Malibu V8 2 door sport coupe built at Arlington Texas assembly. The 73,292 Chevelle model off the line at Arlington.

so this is not an SS car, and the only way to tell the options is if you find the build sheet right? I want to find out if it had a vinal top or hardtop, bucket seats and floor shift from the factory.

thanks man...

The trim tag on the cowl will tell the paint code, whether it had a vinyl top or not and the color and style of seats. Read the sticky at the top of this forum "Decoding resources".

fyi

The SS was just another option so the VIN and body tag will tell you nothing about the status of an SS optioned car. The models where the SS was available as an option were; 13637, 13667 and 13680.

Look on the drivers side of the cowl, right next to the hood hinge.

no on the vinyl top but you can't tell on the stripes from the cowl tag.

I'm thinking I may have an original 71 SS 350-4 car. It has a 12 bolt. Its got the ss guages but with the big fuel on the left and no clock on the right and all dummy lights. I have all black interior with the buckets and center consol horse shoe shifter.

The trim tag says black buckets and black on black paint and thats what i have now. Could it be an original SS? I heard that cars that come out of arlington have the build sheet under the carpet?

All '71-'72 SSs (and some Malibus) came with remote mirrors and glove compartment lights.
Does your 71 possess these items?

mine has glove compartment lights... but no remote mirrors

so because it doesnt have remote mirrors its not an ss?
