I am trying to do this job economicly. A body guy said to use ECI acrylic high build primer. mainly because its worked for him and you dont need any extra thinners off the bat to clean up you use the laquer thinner. Is it good for spraying b/c c/c ???

mixing and matching primers and paints can be tricky. You should always ask these questions at the store you intend to buy the paint. They will know what kind of primer will work under the paint you intend to use. Believe me the worst thing you can do is try to go cheap on the primer and later fine out its not compatible with the paint you wanted to use.

What you are talking about is lacquer primer, and it is the bottom of the barrel.
Step up to a urethane primer, there are a number of economy 2K primers out there that do a fine job at a low cost.

PIVCO sells Mar-Hyde urethane primer packages for about $50. I like the Buff colored primer. It's builds good and sands well. 1 gal primer, hardener and reducer. 812-479-1117

I've used mar-hyde, 5 star and Evercoat hi build, and Dupont hi build uro primers with great success no matter what I top coated it with. They mix down a lil differently but all turn out the same. The best product that ever came out for body men, next to air tools. HAHA. Good luck. Randy B. Check out my site. www.angelfire.com/ky2/mycars (http://www.angelfire.com/ky2/mycars)

PPG Omni 181 urathane primer. Good under any top coat. You can fill in 80 grit scratches wihl it. Just finisf your body work and spray about four coats onheavy. Let it dry for as long as you can a week or two. Come back wet sand with rubber block. Spray two to three coats on and guide coat whit black primer bomb. and repeat process if you want. The mor you primer and block sand the better and straighter your paint wiil be .
